A Day in the Life of Dot
THE ASK
Create a piece of motion design that tells a story.
*Completed for a Motion Design Storytelling course at Parsons New School
As a designer who started and has continued her career working remotely, I wanted to bring some of my daily routines to life.
Through a series of scenes we’re shown a glimpse into a day in the life of Dot. Even though Dot loves pushing pixels, sometimes they yearn to be doing something other than staring at a computer screen. From the boring to exciting, sleepy to playful, Dot makes the most of their WFH lifestyle.
CONCEPT
THE PROCESS
After developing the overall concept, I started to storyboard each scene by sketching out the rough visuals and notating any movements Dot would make. When first starting I planned on using black line-work with block-colored backgrounds (seen in The Job). But ultimately after developing the rest of the storyboards I went in the direction of line-work only. This better helped you focus on the Dot and their movements.
